Caohai Lake
According to local historical records, there used to be four lakes in each direction. At a later date, these lakes became land. During the reign of Emperor Xianfeng of the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911), mountain torrents occurred and the floods poured into the basin making the basin become a vast lake.
The lake is abundant in various kinds of seaweed, hence the name Caohai Lake (Grass Lake ). Caohai Lake is also abounds in fish, waterfowls and many other aquatic animals and plants. It provides a winter habitat for over 100 species of birds, including the black-necked crane.
