China-Luxembourg ties have great development potential
LUXEMBURG -- Visiting Chinese Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan said here Tuesday that there is a great potential for development of relations between China and Luxembourg.
Zeng, who is on an official visit to Luxembourg beginning on Monday, made the remarks during his meeting with the country's Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker.
Zeng spoke highly of the rapid development of relations between the two countries and their fruitful cooperation in such fields as politics, economy and trade.
The two countries should maintain the momentum of high-level exchanges, enhance dialogue and consultations at all levels, expand educational, cultural and technological exchanges, and actively explore ways to deepen cooperation in finance, aviation, steel, logistics, and satellite communications, he said.
Zeng and Juncker also exchanged views on the current international economic and financial situations.
Zeng expressed his appreciation for the Luxembourg government’s steadfast adherence to the one-China policy.
Juncker said he has visited China many times in recent years and seen for himself the tremendous achievements China has made.
He expressed satisfaction over the sound development of political as well as trade and economic ties between the two countries. Luxembourg is ready to maintain close high-level exchanges, deepen economic and trade cooperation and further promote bilateral ties and those between the EU and China, Juncker said.
The government of Luxembourg will always adhere to the one-China policy and is against Taiwan's referendum on its bid for UN membership, he stressed.
Juncker also briefed Zeng about the state of European economies and the EU's economic policies.
Also on Tuesday, Zeng met with Luxembourg's Minister for the Economy Jeannot Krecke.
