African Coffee Entered Chinese Market

As reported by The Standard of Kenya, the first batch of Kenya coffee bean directly sold to China and other Asia & Pacific markets started shipping in mid September this year. The value of coffee bean totaled KES700m (about USD10.4m).

Peter Kimani, general manager of Kenya Planter Cooperative Alliance, addressed that this transaction was based on the agreement signed between former Kenya Planter Cooperative Alliance and All China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives. Kenya Planter Cooperative Alliance will be the export agency to provide at least KES700m Kenya coffee bean to All China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives every year in next two years, and the latter party will be responsible for the sales in Asia & Pacific area.

Kimani said that Kenya was strengthening advertisement of Kenya coffee bean in China to try to enter this expending and rising coffee market.
